OUTBOUND
Acorn Outbound is an inclusive department of Acorn Independence designed to inspire determination, strength of character and self-confidence within the young people in our care.
Our team at Acorn Outbound work closely with the young person’s key worker, meeting monthly to organise activities, expeditions and transformative learning experiences as an incentive and inspiration for progressing in education and work.
The activities are individually chosen to link to the young persons planned outcomes, providing an opportunity to develop new technical, social and leadership skills leading to a sense of teamwork and self-confidence. Some examples of activities we have successfully delivered include driving lessons, coastering, camping, and surfing.
Whether it be through established organisations such as the “Duke of Edinburgh” or the many known specialists we associate with Acorn Outbound aims to prepare our young people regardless of circumstances with the strength of character and determination they need to thrive in the workplace and community when they branch out into independence.
